A Brand-newStar WarsGame has been announced at, Xbox Games Showcase with a release window of 2024.Star Wars Outlawsis a new open-world game set in theStar WarsUniverse being developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

The game was announced through a cinematic trailer that showed off protagonist Kay Vess, on the run from Bounty Hunters. After an encounter with a mysterious figure from their past named Jaylen, Vess appears to accept a job that will wipe away her debt in exchange for participating in a heist. From the trailer it also appears that the heist may take place on Canto Bight, the casino planet heavily featured inStar Wars: The Last Jedi.
Galaxy’s Edge: What is Star Wars Outlaws All About?
The trailer stopped short of outlining the details of the game’s plot, but the cinematic trailer set the tone for the game as being a classic swashbucklingStar Warsadventure, possibly reminiscent ofStar Wars: Shadows of the Empire.
Giving players control of what looks like a non-force-using character will also be a breath of fresh air from the recentJediseries of games. Although the most recent entryJedi: Survivorincluded blasters as usable weapons, for most players the lightsaber was still the implement of choice when cutting down waves of Storm Troopers.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away: When Can We Find Out More about Star Wars Outlaws?
Although there have been plenty ofStar Warsgames developed in the past it would appear, from the trailer’s YouTube description this a true open-world game:
“Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars™ game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
“Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix.
“Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.”
With details scarce other than the cinematic trailer, fans will be delighted to know that there will be an official gameplay reveal at the Ubisoft Forward conference on June 12 at 10:00 AM PDT / 7:00 PM CEST and 6:00 PM BST.
