What Is the Illuminates Faction
The Illuminates faction was first introduced in the original Helldivers. They call themselves the Squ’ith and are an aquatic species. Most players just call them “squids.” Their design is similar to that of the aliens from the 2005 film War of the Worlds. However, that’s where the similarities stop as this civilization can be unforgiving to its prisoners of war.
They can be seen operating flying saucers and commanding mind-controlled humans that have been morphed into abominations. These zombie-like enemies, referred to as “The Volteless” by Super Earth, likely earned their name because they no longer have a voice or autonomy, stripped of any say in democracy or freedom by the Illuminates’ control. Aside from that, they also possess high-end technology that can zap targets into dust.
