Star WarsHas Laid Down A Huge Legacy For Itself
Zack Snyderhas been part of his fair share of massively successful franchises, with the DC Universe being an excellent example. It is because of this that his thoughts and views toward one of the biggest franchises of all time,Star Wars, are quite interesting. According to the director, the franchise has created a special place in popular culture for itself, being one of the only of its kind and having nothing remotely similar compared to itself.
“I don’t think you can make a sci-fi movie now that’s not going to be compared to a Star Wars movie in some way. And I do welcome [it], and I’m happy to discuss its place, or where it will end up in popular culture in regards to the legacy of Star Wars.”He continued,“It’s a rare thing because the Star Wars fan base basically aged with the movies and then had children that then also became fans of the movie and their children had children who became fans of the movie.”

Along with this, Snyder mentioned thatStar Warshas gathered the following of many generations, with fans who have been following its stories throughout their lives. Over the course of the many years of its run, the franchise also has a lot of source material that it has to follow, with comics, books, shows, and films, that have all laid down rules that cannot be broken.

How IsRebel MoonBetter ThanStar WarsAccording To Zack Snyder?
Even though this factor may make fans love the franchise even more, it can, however, be quite frustrating for filmmakers who are trying to take on a new project, to have to follow so many rules that were set decades ago. It is because of this aspect that Zack Snyder believes thatRebel Moonwas a much better and easier project for him.
“I understand the love of it and how canonized it is and actually how immobile it is. Which is probably why I’m here now doing it the way I’m doing it because we really have no rules except for the ones we make.”

The director revealed that he much prefers having to make his own rules and follow them, setting his own tone and theme for the projects he creates rather than having to make sure that every little detail that he puts into his film is canon and following the rules that have been set.
Rebel Moonwill be available to watch on Netflix from 22nd December 2023.
