Front Runner is one of the four available running styles in Umamusume Pretty Derby. A lot of characters are proficient as Front Runners, but some are better than others. Choosing the more viable character greatly increases the chance of you clearing the URA Finale mode and ending up winning the finals.

1. Sakura Bakushin O
Despite being an R-ranked character,Sakura Bakushin Ois one of the best and easiest to train Front Runners. She has anatural 20% aptitude for Speed training, which allows you to consistently get around Rank A to Rank SS in Speed. However, you have to use at least five Speed Support Cards to achieve the best results. Moreover, use one Tazuna card of any rarity to help balance her mood and energy throughout the run.
2. Mihono Bourbon
Mihonois an SSR-ranked Front Runner with aptitude in Stamina and Power. Unlike Sakura, her prowess lies inher unique skill, G00 1st. F∞;, which gives her a boost in speed if she maintains 1st place till the final stretch.
It is highly recommended to upgrade her potential to Level 3 and unlockTaking the Lead. It is an innate skill that increases Mihono’s ability to go to the front in early races. Do note that her banner has concluded, and you cannot obtain her till her banner returns.
3. Silence Suzuka
Silence Suzukais an SSR-ranked Front Runner who has a 20% aptitude in Speed, like Sakura. However, the reason why she is placed in third place is because of her unique skill,The View From the Lead is Mine!. It activates only when she is in the lead by a fair margin in the final stretch, which is quite a difficult condition to achieve. But when it does activate, she gets a boost in velocity, which almost guarantees a win.
4. Mayano Top Gun
Mayanois an energetic Uma Girl who clearly shows this in her personality and racing style. She is one of the best Front Runners due to the sheer number of regeneration skills that Mayano has access to naturally.
Stamina is a big deal when it comes to Front Runners due to the top speed they have to maintain to stay in front of everyone the entire time. Therefore, all of her skills provide stamina and endurance during the race, which gives her an edge over other runners.
5. Maruzensky
Maruzenskyis an SSR-ranked Uma Girl who has only 10% aptitude in Speed, but 20% in Wits. Wit training can help her not only regenerate more energy during preparation days but also give her a good sense of placement in races. Her only big downside is that she is proficient in Mile races only. In other words, she won’t perform well in any other type of track, which gives her a disadvantage in most races.
