Amazon’sThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerjust got sued for a whopping $250 million in the case of copying another author’s work. Although the series, did not receive the expected response, Jeff Bezos and Amazon now have another drama to add to their table.

Based on the original books by J.R.R. Tolkien,The Rings of Powerwas based on his bookThe Silmarillionwhich was later adapted into a television series. An author by the name of Demetrius Polygon filed a lawsuit as he claims that he bought the copyright of a 2017 bookThe War of the Ringsand that the series was based on his books!

Well, after failing a bit miserably for the people,The Rings of Powerdid get a second season (which was obvious in nature). Although the show wasn’t all that loved by the people, there is now one more reason to reconsider the series…since it is getting sued.

According to tales of old,The Silmarilliontold the epic tale of how elves gave it their all to retrieve the Silmaris from the first dark lord Morgoth and then his protégé Sauron. Although the story does seem a bit generalized, it was way fresh when J.R.R. Tolkien wrote it during his days. WithThe Rings of Powerin full motion to carry forward the legacy of Tolkien, an author by the name of Demetrius Polygon seems to have a problem with that.
The news was shared on Twitter which stated that Jeff Bezos and Amazon Studios have been sued for $250 million under the case of copyright infringement by author Demetrius Polygon who claimed that the seven-book seriesThe War of the Ringswhich he obtained back in 2017. According to the author,The Rings of Powerwas based on the book!

Although there have been no comments from the higher-ups, this does seem to create a hindrance for the series. The spectacular cast of the series, however, seems to be enjoying shooting the second season. And yes, they are aware of the negative reception that the first season has received!

“So I think there’s an idea that you’re able to’t please everyone. But also, I do respect the ownership of her because I know if I was on the other side, I’d also be feeling like that. I feel very protective about that. I feel quite protective of making sure she’s safe from harm.”
