Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumaniais receiving mixed reviews from Marvel fans and critics alike. From the artificial-looking CGI to the wafer-thin plot, viewers are complaining about multiple things in the film. But there’s one aspect of the movie that many especially despised- the lack of any emotional weight in the plot. There’s a lack of consequences in the film since at the end, all the characters come out alive in the aftermath of their confrontation with a powerful being like Kang. But there’s speculation that this will get fixed inAvengers: Secret Wars.
Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man To Die InAvengers: Kang Dynasty?
When the trailer ofAnt-Man 3was released, there was rampant speculation online. Many fans assumed that the movie will mark the end of Paul Rudd’s tenure as Scott Lang in the MCU. However, that didn’t happen in the film, exasperating many and baffling others. But insider reports allege that Scott Lang, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne will bid goodbye in another film.
Alex, a writer from The Cosmic Circus, responded to a tweet saying that Kang should have killed Janet, Hank, or Scott. Many think that Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are the likeliest candidates since they aren’t relevant to the plot of any other future MCU film. However, others are of the view that killing Scott Lang, the protagonist of theAnt-Manfilms will create a bigger emotional impact akin to the deaths of Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff inAvengers: Endgame.

Also, with Scott Lang’s death, his legacy will be carried on by his daughter, Cassie Lang. Thus, all of it will make for an amazing emotional centerpiece to the entire event. However, will this really happen? After all, a Marvel Studios executive has confirmed that talks onAnt-Man 4are happening.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios executive Stephen Broussard confirmed that talks about Ant-Man 4 have begun. He said:
“We’re already thinking about it. It’s like, every movie’s its own battle and you bear the scars of making it and wanting to make it great. But hope springs eternal and you start to put yourself back together after the journey of making the movie…I don’t want to say anything about specifically what those are, but yeah, you can’t help yourself. Those conversations, those whispers have already started to happen between myself and Peyton and Kevin.”

What kind of film willAnt-Man 4be? StarPaul Ruddhas some ideas. He wants to go back to the low-stake adventures Scott Lang’s previous films were about. In an interview with Yahoo UK, Rudd said:
“I can’t imagine where you [would go]. How do you get bigger? And where do you go from here? I think about it, it’s like this regular guy who has no innate super ability whatsoever has now gone head-to-head with Thanos and Kang. I just feel like, cut the guy a break. Just let him sit on a beach somewhere. How much abuse can he take? How much punishment?”
IfAnt-Man 4happens, it will probably take place afterAvengers: Kang Dynasty. So what about the allegations about Scott, Hank, or Janet’s deaths? It remains to be seen if the nextAnt-Manmovie ever comes to fruition.
Avengers: Kang Dynastyto release on 30 June 2025.
