Sometimes the actors get so comfortable in the skin of their characters that it becomes their comfort zone. Something similar happened with Mads Mikkelsen when he majorly covered the roles of a scheming villain throughout his career.

The actor enjoyed performing immoral characters so much that he excelled at it. And later, he became known for such roles. Previously, during an interview, the actor himself agreed that he enjoyed playing such characters as he finds portraying cute characters boring.

Previously, during an interview, Mikkelsen talked about his inclination toward playing an antagonist in a film. The actor explained that he finds playing lovable characters quite boring and is more comfortable playing villainous characters. He said,

“To combine it — to do something real and also be a cutie pie — I don’t really find it interesting. I’m not into the ‘hair falling in your eyes, be cute in a corner.’ Not me. The losers are fun. Because we know them. You might have been in that situation yourself sometimes.”

The actor further explained that performing the bad guy character opens the door to creativity for him, and he certainly finds himself more adventurous in his way. The Hannibal actor said,

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll definitely do this because it’s fun.”

The actor has performed phenomenally well as the villain in iconic franchises likeBond,Marvel, andIndiana Jones.

Though the actor masters this genre, he has proven his versatility by playing roles like Overgard in the 2018 film, Arctic. Earlier, during an interview, the actor explained why he is fond of playing antagonists so much. He said,

“They have cool stuff! They say cool stuff! They’re radical, in the sense that they’re in love with their goal. They don’t care so much about the means. That’s something we all hope we could do. They skip morals. We wish we could do that, but we can’t. That’s why we’re human.”

Mads Mikkelsen is indeed the king of the villainy role. Some of his best performances as a villain are in movies likeCasino Royale, Hannibal,Doctor Strange, andChaos Walking.
