Fans eagerly awaiting the live-action Legend of Zelda film will have to wait a bit longer. Nintendo has officially announced that the movie’s release date has been delayed. Originally set to premiere on June 13, 2025, the film is now slated to arrive in theaters onMay 7, 2027, due to production-related planning delays.

The new release date places The Legend of Zelda in a prime summer movie slot, previously held by Marvel and Disney’s Avengers: Secret Wars, which has now been shifted to December 2027. This adjustment could work in Zelda’s favor, giving it more room to shine without going head-to-head with major titles like Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, both scheduled for around the same period.

Notably, production hasn’t even begun yet. Principal photography is not expected to begin until November 2025. The reason for the delay hasn’t been detailed, but it likely has more to do with extended pre-production planning than any issues related to filming itself.
