The Game Awards 2023 have come and gone and left us with a bevy of announcements, first looks, and world premieres to feast on. As the final presentation of the show, Capcom revealedMonster Hunter Wilds, the next entry in the popular series, set to launch sometime in 2025.

The game got a beautiful teaser trailer, allowing a first look at the successor to the popularMonster Hunter Worldfrom 2018. The upcoming title is still a ways off and details are scarce. Fans can expect to find out more in the summer of 2024, when the franchise will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The Next Monster Hunter Entry Has Been Revealed at The Game Awards
Capcom gave us a sneak peek at the upcomingMonster Hunter Wilds. The teaser showcases the game’s sprawling world, teeming with, as expected, herds of different species of monsters scattered across the hostile wilderness.
A hunter can be seen riding and gliding around the gorgeous environment on a winged mount that resembles those we already know fromRise. He is being chased by large bear-like monsters who are attacking anything in their path.

Besides the gruesome monsters, the game seems to feature some pretty impressive weather effects with electric lightning storms and huge clouds of sand and smoke rolling over the land, affecting it in various ways.
Judging by the short teaser,Monster Hunter Wildslooks like a successor that combines elements from both its predecessors,WorldandRise.

Monster Hunter Wilds to Feature “Detailed Creatures and Ecosystems”
Ina separate video, the series’ producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, revealed some more information about the upcoming entry in the franchise. He stated that “the game features a new level of detailed creatures and ecosystems.”
Saying that “the announcement [was] just the start,” Tsujimoto didn’t offer any more details about the actual game. Instead, he encouraged gamers to “enjoy dissecting the trailer to get an idea of what to expect.” With 60 seconds of game footage to go at, a lot will be up to fans’ imagination at this point.

He added that the game would be “using the power of PS5 to the fullest.” The teaser already showed off some of the game’s visuals, and it seems the team is working hard to push the current-gen consoles, to deliver “the best Monster Hunter experience yet.” On stage at The Game Awards, he claimed: “The best is yet to come,” further building anticipation among the series’ many fans.
Monster Hunter Wildsis set to launch sometime in 2025. It will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. While earlier titles in the series used to launch in Japan first, the upcoming title will follow in the footsteps ofWorldandRiseand release globally simultaneously.

No official release date has been announced, and details are scarce. But fans of the series can look forward to more information on the upcoming title next year. 2024 marks the franchise’s 20th anniversary since the firstMonster Hunterlaunched on PlayStation 2 back in 2004.
