Japanese Video Game Designer and Director Hideki Kamiya is the man who directedDevil May Cryas well asResident Evil 2. He was also the former Vice President of PlatinumGames and resigned on August 22, 2025. Shortly after, he launched his YouTube channel named Hideki Kamiya Channel.

The first video on the channel is already live and explains why the famed Gaming industry veteran left his position at PlatinumGames. He also revealed what his plans are. He also intimidated the viewers about what he had been on to since his departure. He has made some exciting revelations about the same. The video is up in both Japanese and English on the channel.
Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 2 Creator Says That He Cannot Work in the Same Industry for a Year
Thevideobegins with a shot of Hideki Kamiya carrying a box containing his possessions from his workspace. Hideki then says that he is done with PlatinumGames. Inviting the viewers for a chat, he then takes a seat and says,
Hideki expressed that he feels very refreshed after having left the company. His time since then has been spent watching OTT like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, etc. He also revealed that it had been three months since he had decided to leave PlatinumGames.

Speaking about his reasons for resigning from PlatinumGames, Hideki said he wanted to pursue his beliefs as a video game creator. He also wished to choose the path he thought was right and move on. On his plans for the future, Hideki revealed:
…Yeah, so I am not going to retire yet. I want to keep creating games. There are a bunch of rumours about me. There has been some speculations about where Kamiya is joining and stuff… I even know some people are spreading rumours that I am not leaving Platinum…I can’t work for (the same industry for) a year. Due to reasons. So, it will be a while until I bring good news to you all.

On a lighter note, Hideki also revealed that his immediate plans would be to go home and cook. He also confirmed that he would not retire as long as there was a place that would hire him.
Devil May Cry Creator’s Plan for his YouTube Channel
He spoke about what he would offer his viewers watching him on his YouTube channel. Contrary to what one would expect, the content he would post would be completely unrelated to gaming and the gaming industry. Hideki explained:
It’s the obvious. With my career as a game designer beign almost 30 years. With that in mind…I promise to give you…things COMPLETELY USELESS to making games. It won’t be help to anyone wanting to be in the gaming industry,nor give any type of learning experience.

Hideki further clarified:
Not that kind…I think I will post things that is completely EDUCATION FREE, so please stay tuned. I going to do something that WILL NOT contribute to the gaming industry, AT ALL, that’s for sure.
He is then seen bidding goodbye to his viewers, zooming off in his Lamborghini, and having revealed that his content will be unrelated to Gaming.The Devil May Crycreator’s plan for his channel remains a surprise.

Smash Broscreator Masahiro Sakurai also started a YouTube channel in August 2022. The only difference is that his channel was made to zero in on Game Development.
Interestingly, Hideki Kamiya’s former colleague,Resident EvilCreator Shinji Mikami, recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) about his eagerness to return to work.
Now that I’ve broken the spell of non-competition on myself, I guess I should get to work.
Bethesda had confirmedhis resignation from Tango Gameworks via X on Jun 14, 2025. It will be interesting to see if Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya will ever collaborate again.
