Thus, her venture outside the cinematic juggernaut has proven to be smooth sailing as she is either slated to become or already is a part of several film projects that the public and critics have their eyes on. Therefore, when she revealed that she didn’t like the fact that her MCU character Yelena Belova had tight-fitting clothes designed for the franchise fans were enraged.

Florence Pugh Didn’t Like Her Suit In Hawkeye As It Was A Tight Fit

Fans may remember the departure of Scarlett Johansson from the franchise when she made her last appearance in 2021’sBlack Widow, which was hard for every MCU fan who witnessed it. But thankfully, her last appearance also introduced us to Yelena Belova, played to perfection byFlorence Pugh, who is gearing up to be an integral part of the franchise going forward.

But despite all the success she has amassed from her role in the MCU, she still has one problem from the franchise that was recently brought to light. In the newly-released bookMarvel Studios’Hawkeye: the Art of the Series, theMidsommarstar talked about how she felt her suit was too tight for her comfort.

She said that she wanted to remove this trend of skin-tight suits that Natasha Romanoff popularized in the franchise with her character’s appearance in Hawkeye alongsideJeremy Renner. She said:

Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova in the MCU

“One thing that I really wanted with Yelena was that I didn’t want her to be in tight suits … I didn’t want her to be a silhouette. I wanted her to be in clothes that she could fight in, that are a different look to what we’ve seen before.”

While this may have been a personal wish of the star, her comments about it have enraged many fans of the franchise.

What Do The Fans Say About This?

While she may have wished for some loose-fitting clothes for her character, tight fits are the most tactical forms of dressing that characters like assassins wear to not hinder their movements and task executions involving the use of lethal and non-lethal weapons.

Thus, when she said that she wanted Belova to wear something loose, fans were angry that she was not adhering to the comic accuracy of her outfits.

I really didn’t notice. I don’t think she was overly sensualized in any way imho

Okay so she wanted to fight a highly trained, dangerous, retired SHIELD agent and Avenger in wizard robes? Got it

While people may argue that it’s fiction, it might’ve downgraded the efforts of the franchise to bring as much realness into the already fantastical MCU.
