The Russo Brothers have shared how important the elevator fight sequence was to them. It marked the beginning of their MCU journey as it was the“very first scene [they] shot in the MCU.”They also shared that the scene was very important to them for a lot of reasons and claimed that they knew it would make the movie “distinctive.”
They also shared how the scene works as a turning point for the antagonist. Captain America is known for his devotion to Authority and the country he’s served. However, the elevator scene represented“mistrust and subversion”and a change in the superhero forever. “It’s a huge turning point in Captain America’s arc,”the directors of the film shared during an interview withGQ.
