Jujutsu Kaisenfever has taken over the anime fandom. The anime has been mind-blowing, and the manga’s accurate depiction has made it even more popular among its peers. Even though there is an ongoing controversy surrounding MAPPA Studios, the animators are doing their best so that the quality remains the best. With several characters,Jujutsu Kaisenseason 2 has been one of the most-watched anime of 2023.
Season 2 has gifted us with several memorable moments with different characters. But people often forget about one character who transformed himself to be one of the best even after falling to the evil side. The character in focus is none other than Mechamaru, whose real name is Kokichi Muta. Kokichi Muta had the best development inJujutsu Kaisenseason 2.
Kokichi Muta’s Redemption Is Often Overlooked
Jujutsu Kaisenseason 2 has been quite a rollercoaster ride. In this rollercoaster of emotions, people often glorify Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji Itadori, Ryomen Sukuna, Satoru Gojo, etc., but Kokichi Muta is another character who needs to be glorified for his work. the fandom might raise questions after hearing his name since he was the mole in Jujutsu High who helped pseudo-Suguru Geto and Hanami infiltrate the campus.

He did it to regain a healthy body and be with his friends. Due to the Heavenly Pact restriction, Kokichi Muta has a fragile body with massive storage of Cursed Energy and can control other things from a distance. He had no idea that the villains would target the students of Jujutsu High. After helping the villains, as a condition of the deal, Mahito used his Idle Configuration to make Kokichi Muta’s body normal.
Now, with a normal body and massive storage of Cursed Energy, Muta fought pseudo-Geto and Mahito to save his friends. Even though he used his most potent form, Ultimate Mechamaru, it was not enough to bring down two powerful villains in one go, and as a result, he died fighting. His redemption did not end there. Muta, being a genius, already knew he would face his demise if he took on the duo. So, as an insurance plan, he created a small cookie-like creature with the face of Ultimate Mechamaru.
After Satoru Gojo was sealed, it went to Yuji Itadori and whispered in his years that Satoru Gojo was sealed. While Yuji was suspicious at first due to him being the mole, Muta had already planned and planted all the necessary information in the device. After revealing everything, Yuji believed him. Even in death, Kokichi Muta helped his friends. His character development has been often overlooked, but it surely is one of the best.

Jujutsu Kaisenseason 2 is one of the best anime of 2023. The anime currently has aired 18 episodes, with the latest released on June 12, 2025. The Shibuya Incident arc has already commenced, and the fans have experienced a few of the best encounters. Episode 18 featured the death of Nanami at the hands of Mahito, with Yuji experiencing the whole thing.
Yuji going into despair and Mahito toying with him will help Yuji to turn into a mature sorcerer. His character development will be the one to watch out for. But for the moment, Kokichi Muta’s character development is one of the highest in ranking. The fans can be disappointed in him, but they have to accept the fact that he did not know about the outcome. After knowing that it was a mistake, he tried his best. Gege Akutami can truly turn villains into heroes with their magic hands.
