Remedy Entertainment confirmed thatAlan Wake 2will be getting a New Game Plus mode ahead of the game’s release in October 2023. Later on December 1, it teased the Game+ mode revealing that it would be released sometime this month, and now it has finally confirmed that the New Game Plus mode called“The Final Draft”arrives on Monday, July 15, 2025, across all platforms.
Alan Wake 2 New Game Plus Mode Arrives On Monday, December 11
Alan Wake 2was nominated across eight categories at The Game Awards 2023 including the coveted Game of the Year. Although it did not pick up the top award, it won three awards for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction. The directors ofAlan Wake 2announced during the acceptance speech that the game will be getting the New Game+ mode on December 11.
Remedy also shared ablog postannouncing the New Game+ mode is called“The Final Draft.”Remedy Entertainment revealed that this new mode is just“another compelling reason”to play the game again with enhanced adventure.
The New Game+ mode will bring new story content with a new ending, new Nightmare difficulty level, new Manuscript pages, and video content, adding to the game’s lore. The blog post reads:
The Final Draft unveils a new ending to the layered story of Alan Wake, sure to spark speculation and theories among our dedicated fans. Additionally, there is new lore to be found in the form of a few new videos and manuscript pages that have been added to the New Game Plus experience, along with other subtle additions.
The Nightmare difficulty level will be the hardest in the game after the new mode drops. The game currently has three difficulty levels, Story, Normal, and Hard. The Nightmare difficulty level is returning from the first game and will add extra horrifying challenges for players. Players will also retain all their weapons, charms, and upgrades that they have unlocked during the first playthrough.
The gameplay will require players to be more strategic and the enemies will be more powerful than they were initially. Remedy further added:
Brace yourselves for intensified enemies, strategic gameplay, and an adrenaline-pumping experience that will push your skills to the limit.
Players will not start the New Game Plus mode with the weapons in their inventory but will find all the unlocked weapons in the first shoebox of their character, meaning that they will be on their own for a while.
The New Game+ mode will also bring several bug fixes and performance improvements and complete patch notes will be released with the launch of the mode. It is important to know that the New Game+ mode will only be unlocked for players if they have completedAlan Wake 2.
Alan Wake 2is a narrative-focused title and has been loved by fans and acclaimed by critics. The game has been praised for its immersive storyline, stunning graphics, and gameplay. The game allows gamers to play as the titular Alan Wake as well as Saga Anderson and The Final Draft will see both the characters facing more powerful enemies in the Dark Place.
The Final Draft update is slated to be released on Monday, December 11th, 2023, at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/8 pm Helsinki time for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. Remedy Entertainment has also confirmed that the game will also be getting two paid DLC expansions.
The two paid DLCs are calledNight SpringsandLake Houseand will bring new areas for players to explore, new playable characters, and much more. The DLC expansions are scheduled to be released sometime in 2024, but Remedy has not announced a specific release date as of now.
