Samuel L. Jackson Called Joss Whedon a Motherf***er for Violating His Demands

Samuel L. Jacksonhad a starring role along with all the members of the Avengers in the firstAvengersfilm. The actor had told directorJoss Whedonto not include any scene that involved running in the film. But when he read the script, he was not happy with the director.

As detailed in the new book,MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, one scene from the script involved Jackson’s character Nick Fury running onto the deck of the Helicarrier and trying to shoot down an aircraft carrying nukes. He called Whedon a mother***er for violating his demands. An excerpt from the book read,

Samuel L. Jackson in Secret Invasion

When Whedon had consulted Jackson before writing the screenplay, the then sixty-two-year-old actor had made only one request about Nick Fury: he didn’t want to run. But now he pulled out his script and pointed out to a stage direction where Fury ran onto the deck of a Helicarrier with a rocket launcher. ‘What’s this say here? It says I run!’. ‘Just that once’, Whedon assured him. ‘You only run once’. Jackson called Whedon a ‘motherf***er…”

Whedon is known for taking full control and authority over his projects. It is no surprise that he made Jackson angry by violating a prior demand that he had because as long as the narrative fits with his vision, he is ready to go against everything that was discussed before.
