In an interview withThe Gramham Norton Show, where both appeared together, it was discovered that the two had a bizarre connection way before either of them had their breakthrough in cinema.

It is a tale as old as time, almost every actor had to survive on low-wage jobs to sustain themselves before they had their breakthrough roles. And it was the same for theAvengersstar andFRIENDSstar. Both used to cater and wait tables in the States before they got their first acting gigs.

When appearing forThe Graham Norton Show, they discovered that they used to work for the same restaurant chain just in different cities. And this is how it went.
Schwimmer: “I waited tables for a long time about seven years. But my first gig was as a rollerskating waiter at this……… really cool place in Chicago… It was called Ed Debevic’s.”

Ruffalo: “I worked at Ed Debevic’s! In LA.”
Both were equally surprised at the bizarre discovery and went on to chat about how it was working at the place. While Schwimmer did rollerskating and performed stunts for tips dressed as Romeo, Ruffalo played Frankie. While they rejoiced over the fact that they had worked for the same restaurant, their paths never crossed until they both ended up on the hit talk show. Life truly works in mysterious ways.
