Captain America 4Faces Challenging Production Phase
Based on the Marvel Comics character Sam Wilson aka Captain America, the upcomingCaptain America 4has been preparing itself for a strong release in 2025. Being one of the most important projects for MCU’s future, the film is undergoing thorough production and repeated reshoots. Beginning by changing the title of the movie fromCaptain America: New World OrdertoCaptain America: Brave New World,the film went through major changes.
After introducing Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, the upcoming movie faced major backlash and negative reception during early screening. This initially led Marvel to rethink a lot of things about the project. Therefore, postponing their release date, Marvel began checking every little detail that might pose a threat to the already doomed Cinematic Universe.
Therefore, according to the discussion between John Rocha and Jeff Sneider onThe Hot Micpodcast, Marvel even hired a new writer Matthew Orton (consulting producer forMoon Knight). According to Rocha, Orton has been hired to go through the materials that will be shot in additional photography. Rocha and Sneider believe that Marvel has been trying to fix a lot of issues that have been going on since the early screening.

Captain America 4Might End Up WithJustice League-Like Fate
Discussing whether it’s a positive thing that Marvel is trying to fix the issues, or if it showcases thatCaptain America 4was in no condition to do well at the box office, John Rocha and Jeff Sneider dove into the podcast. “If this movie wasn’t in the can basically, for the most part, I think that they probably would have just looked at it and scrapped it,” Sneider claimed.
Recalling how he had previously predicted thatCaptain America 4would have an elongated reshoot “almost like they were tearing out a good portion of the movie”,Jeff Sneidermentioned that it feels unlike the standard two weeks built in reshoots. Especially since Marvel brought in a new writer at this point, Sneider believes that he is going to make major changes.
Just like what happened with DC’sJustice League, when Zack Snyder stepped down following the untimely demise of his daughter, and Joss Whedon scrapped most of it; it seemsCaptain America 4is facing the same fate.John Rochaimplied that bringing in a new writer at this point in production feels like Marvel wanted to rewrite the scenes for they believed the initial version wasn’t working well.
Questioning Matthew Orton’s capabilities as a writer, especially since his Disney+ seriesMoon Knightdidn’t exactly serve as the usual light-hearted Marvel show, John Rocha stated that whatever the studio is doing to fixCaptain America 4,it doesn’t feel good.
