James Gunn Reportedly Bringing JSA inSuperman: Legacy

Not long ago, scooper Grace Randolph alleged The Authority might be the main antagonist inSuperman: Legacy, which initially fitted well as the next major project in line isThe Authority. However, it appears, it is no longer the case, as recent reports from the scooper debunked the rumors surrounding The Authority, claiming the Gunn-led film is reportedly moving towards JSA.

Although she clarified she isn’t sure whether it would be theJustice Society of Americaor a JSA-type team, following the recent cast reveal for the upcoming film, it might not be further from the truth. With the confirmation ofNathan Fillionas Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, andEdi Gathegias Mister Terrific, it’s evident the DCU is no stranger to metahuman even before Superman dons the cape.James Gunnalso didn’t back away from washing down some fans’ doubts, who are concerned whether the film is heading in the same direction asZack Snyder‘sBVS.

Amidst the many complaints that arose following the disappointment ofBVS, the major one was the film which was mainly focused on setting up its future projects. So it’s reasonable to see fans having the same concerns after witnessing the ever-expanding cast ofSuperman: Legacy,however, Gunn clarified that it will not be the case. The director explained he has never used characters to set up the next film, and the entire cast ofLegacyis important to flush out his story for Clark Kent. He explained,

“I’ve never used one movie to set up another movie. The characters are there because they help to tell Superman’s story better, not so we can set up separate projects in the franchise. Superman and Lois are the very clear protagonists.”
