Blue Beetleis the latest film to join James Gunn’s DCU lineup. Portraying the story of Jamie Reyes, a normal person finding himself an ancient relic of alien technology, the movie was met with mixed reviews as some claimed it was better than this year’s DCU films while others trashed the story.

Talking about an important character in the movie, its director Angel Manuel Soto talked about the character of Ted Kord. Being the original Blue Beetle before the protagonist, Ted Kord was never given a face to his name. This presented the actors with an amazing opportunity to be a part of the DCU. When asked about who he had in mind,Angel Manuel Sotostated that he wanted theTed Lassostar and Oliva Wilde’s ex-partner Jason Sudeikis in the role for the upcoming sequel.
“My dream cast for Ted Kord has always been Jason Sudeikis. But at the end of the day, it’s about who’s best for the character, who loves what we’re trying to do. And who’s willing to see Jaime Reyes’ story continue.”

The director recently appeared at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood before the screening ofBlue Beetletook place. Being very proud of his Latino heritage and the film that he created showing the richness of his culture, Angel Manuel Soto had a special announcement for the people.

“We put our hearts and souls into it because we wanted you guys to feel welcome to our stories. There’s no fear. Don’t fear Spanish, don’t fear Mexican heritage, don’t fear Latino heritage. We want you guys to join the party with us.”
With a recent release date,Blue Beetleis currently standing on a rating of 7/10 on IMDB and 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is good for a DCU movie. The film is currently screening in theaters across the world for people to see.
