With the battle of male ego and fame coming their way, Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck had a blast shooting Zack Snyder’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.Although it seemed a minor thing, Cavill wasn’t as jacked as Ben Affleck during their shooting, which led to some intimidation between the actors.

As per an interview, Henry Cavill felt intimidated by seeing the beefed-up body of fellow co-star Ben Affleck. Cavill later stopped at nothing to achieve the required physique to go head-to-head with the actor and continues to boast a god-bod.

When Henry Cavill Was Intimidated By Ben Affleck

Before the actors went to the pound-town at the end of Zack Snyder’s film, the duo had several moments of interaction with each other. Ben Affleck’s grim Batman was trying to find out what Lex Luthor had in mind, while Henry Cavill’s Superman was blackmailed by the supervillain.

The movie included a training scene for Ben Affleck, where the actor can be seen training as heavily as he can. With a shredded body and a mind to kill Superman, this scene ofBatman v Supermanhas become quite famous. Contrary to his fellow co-star,Henry Cavilldid not share the same muscular physique during that period of time. As revealed by the actor, Cavill felt intimidated by Ben Affleck while on set due to the difference in their respective bodies at the time of the shooting.

“Like most things in life, you put yourself at a certain level, and I thought I was in good shape going into that film. Then I met Ben Affleck. What struck me first was how funny he was, but man was he ripped as well. I’ve never been the type of guy to get involved in any sort of macho one-upmanship, but I admit I was more than a bit intimidated, and it gave me the desire to push it a bit more, because Ben is really built.”

TheEnola Holmesactor further continued thatBen Affleckwas the reason that he went to the gym, and not because he had to portray Superman in the movie!

“The guy is huge. I’m puny by comparison. He is much bigger than I expected, this huge presence and vast physicality. I had to step it up. When you see this mountain of a man walking around set, you think, ‘I’ve got to get to the gym… yesterday.’”

Training aside, both the men portrayed the role of their respective superheroes quite well. With a mixed review from the audience (like every Zack Snyder film), the movie found itself in some debates about ending the fight between Superman and Batman quite early (thanks to Mother Martha).

Being at an above-average height of 6’1″, Henry Cavill is only 3 inches shorter than his fellow co-star. Although, with such a muscular physique, it seems incredible that the actor was intimidated by Ben Affleck. After things took their sweet time, both the actors were praised for their performances as the ego eventually subsided in the later DCU projects.

2022 wasn’t the year for Henry Cavill. After being removed as Geralt of Rivia from Netflix’sThe Witcher, the actor was fired as Superman from the DCU. But with overwhelming support from the fans, the actor has been reportedly picked up for multiple movies and series in the future.

The actor has been picked for multiple movies (several of which are spy-thrillers) by acclaimed directors, and 2023 seems to be the year for Henry Cavill to shine. Henry Cavill will be working with Guy Ritchie, Matthew Vaughn, and other notable directors for the upcoming year along with his ownWarhammer 40,000project on the line.
