The magic of the enigma that is the masked vigilante Batman to the people of Gotham City is truly something remarkable. While no one knows who he is under the cowl, the evil of the city shudders when they hear that deep voice from the shadows. Robert Pattinson knew this, and thus, brought us one of the most impactful sounding Batman inThe Batman.

And while he also brought in every single aspect of the caped crusader of the dark to his performance in the most striking way possible, fans were especially impressed with his voice modulation in the film. And since many wanted to know where he got his inspiration from, the star had a really surprising source to name.
Robert Pattinson’sThe BatmanVoice Was Inspired By Willem Dafoe
While he may be famous for depicting a vampire inThe Twilight Saga,British starRobert Pattinsonfound new fame as The Dark Knight of Gotham City in his blockbuster DC filmThe Batman.Considered to be one of the finest depictions of the superhero in history, the star knew going in that he had to keep everything to a ten when it came to portraying the character. Therefore, to create a unique yet familiar Batman voice, he turned to MCU starWillem Dafoe.
Since the early iterations of the superhero, fans have pointed out that most of them had a deep and growling voice, especiallyChristian BaleinThe Dark Knight Trilogy, which seemed a little much and wasn’t received well by fans. Therefore, Pattinson took a different approach and took inspiration from theAquamanstar when they were shooting for their then-upcoming filmThe Lighthousetogether. In a past interview, Pattinson said:

“Willem’s voice in this is quite inspiring for it to be honest. It is pretty similar to the voice I’m gonna do. I think Batman has a pirate-y kind of voice, I thnik that would really suit him”
Therefore, taking notes from his co-star, the actor went on to implement the same tunes to his vocals, and what emerged, as a result, was a low, raspy, and mysterious yet fear-inducing voice that fans absolutely loved.

What’s Next ForThe Batman?
With the smashing success that the first film achieved, a whopping $771 Million to be exact, DC Films CEO James Gunn has acknowledged just how much potential a series would hold. Therefore, he has decided to keep this movie in the upcoming DCU in a separate cinematic universe called DC Elseworlds. This has led to receiving a green light for the sequel, along with the possibility of a dedicated series of films in the future.
