Bullock explained how this break stretched longer than she had expected. It went from a year to much longer than that. This also became an issue as she found herself having no desire to act. Upon not being able to find motivation for her attention diverted toMillion Dollar Baby.Hilary Swank, who also starred inThe Next Karate Kid,got the role of Maggie Fitzgerald, one that Sandra Bullock had eyed. However, that was not the end of things for her. The actress found herself collaborating with Paul Haggis regardless, that too in Brendan Fraser’s film. “I read ‘Crash’ and I told Paul, ‘I’ll play any one of the women just to be in the movie.’ It was only four days of work and it was totally re-inspiring.”

It wasCrashthat caught her attention. She became rather obsessed with the film and was ready to take any part in the film as long as she was allowed to be a part of it. Though the film was not as successful as Million Dollar Baby, it did help Bullock find her way back into Hollywood.
