In an interview with The New York Times,Demi Mooreopened up about how things got extremely dangerous thanks to her substance abuse. As mentioned by the magazine, Moore was out with her andBruce Willis’ daughter,Rumer Willis. During this time, the actress suffered a horrible seizure due to smoking synthetic cannabis and inhaling nitrous oxide.

Because of Moore’s constant behavior, her daughters shunned her out of their lives. On top of that, the actress’ health began to seriously deteriorate. This was also the time Moore had signed with Harper to author a memoir about the mothers and daughters of her family.
She told The NY Times,
“Part of my life was clearly unraveling. I had no career. No relationship…Something was going on, including my organs slowly shutting down…the root was a major heavy viral load.”
Moore was going through autoimmune and digestive problems and owing to this, simple day-to-day things like reading and watching television became a difficult task for her. Fortunately, Moore soon turned things around for herself. She took up rehabilitation, reconnected with her three daughters, and sincerely began working onInside Out,which she released in 2019.

Why Demi Moore WroteInside Out
Talking to PEOPLE at the L.A. premiere of her filmCorporate Animals,Moore opened up about what exactly drove her to write and finish her memoir. She began by stating,“I think my desire was to really get to a place where I am OK to really be seen. When there isn’t anything to protect.”
Moore stated that the foundation ofInside Outwas based on the question of how she got to where she is. The actress stated,

“I centered [the book] on a fundamental question, which is, ‘How did I get here?’ Coming from where I’ve come from, how did I get here? That created a shape. Once I had the shape, it became far easier because I wasn’t trying to answer or address everything. I just was answering that piece from where I kind of start the book, which is right at 50. And being able to really step in and accept yourself for all that you are, and have compassion for your self-judgment of all that you’re not.”
Thanks to all her hard work and the support of her family, Moore is now in a much better space. Her daughters are extremely proud of her and they realize that even parents are allowed to make mistakes sometimes. After all, they are only human!
