Scarlett Johansson’s Feud With Disney

In July 2021, Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company in Los Angeles County Superior Court for breach of contract. The lawsuit was filed after the studio released the film simultaneously in theatres and on Disney+ with Premier Access. The decision was taken by keeping the pandemic in mind, as it would allow the audience to enjoy the film in the safety of their house along with theatres.

TheLucyactress claimed in her lawsuit that Disney compromised the film’s potential box office performance in order to grow its streaming service, Disney+. It also claimed that the studio is trying to avoid paying“very large box office bonuses”that she would have obtained on top of the $20 million she received for the film.

However, Deadline estimated that the settlement amount could be more than $40 million. After settling down the lawsuit, Johansson said that she is happy to resolve the differences between her and the studio and that she’s looking forward to continuing their work together.
