Marshall Bruce Mathers III a.k.a Eminem, a.k.a Slim Shady, has created a dominant fanbase in his career as a rapper. The musician has ruled the rap music genre for more than a decade producing record-breaking hits over the years.

However, Shady has also found himself in several big-time controversies. Many people might not know but his life and career and many of his comments on several things have pushed the rapper into controversies, one of which involved popstar Rihanna.

Eminem Apologized to Rihanna After Siding With Chris Brown
EminemandRihannahave collaborated more than once—Numbon her 2012 albumUnapologeticandThe MonsterfromThe Marshall Mathers LP 2in 2013. The popularity of these songs is also record-breaking. However, shockingly, the rapper sided withChris Browndespite Rihanna’s former boyfriend being charged with domestic violence in 2009. In a leaked track titledZeus, Eminem supported Brown by rapping,“Of course, I side with Chris Brown. I’d beat down a b*tch too.”
Although later he apologized saying:“For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Ri / It wasn’t meant to cause you grief. Regardless, it was wrong of me”The leaked track was a huge backlash on him. Eminem’s representative later weighed in to reveal what actually happened in a public statement.

“This is a leak of something that’s over 10 years old. After Eminem recorded it, he scrapped it, and rewrote it. Obviously, he and Rihanna have a great relationship.”
There is no report of Rihanna responding to the controversy with her co-musician. But the rapper found himself in several other controversies including being allegedly labelled as misogynist and homophobic.

Eminem’s Racial Slur Controversy
Among several other controversies, the rapper found himself in another huge controversy following the release ofFoolish PrideorSo Many Stylesby The Source in 2003. Although Eminem never released these songs in any of his albums, the release of the songs revealed disturbing racial slurs directed at black women as he referred to black women as greedy and unintelligent while suggesting white males not to date them. Eminem later apologized addressing the pressing issue at hand.
“The tape they played today was something I made out of anger, stupidity, and frustration when I was a teenager… I’d just broken up with my girlfriend, who was African American, and I reacted like the angry, stupid kid I was. I hope people will take it for the foolishness that it was, not for what somebody is trying to make it into today.”

However, the nature of this controversy was also questionable as the owners of The Source Magazine were in dispute with the rapper. Last year, rapper Bizarre— former member of Eminem’s rap group— revealed,“The song was cut off and edited. He was freestyling and was naming all type of races but The Source just edited the ‘Black girl’ part and made it sound like racist.”Still, given the track record of the rapper, and that he actually rapped those homophobic lines did downgrade the rapper to a great extent.
