During an interview, the voice actor of Asta revealed that initially, he auditioned for both Asta and Yuno.
Black Cloverfollows a fantasy and adventurous drama of two friends whose aim is to become the Wizard King. With such a great plot, the anime is bound to have several followers and a big fandom. But one of the most shocking news for theBlack Cloverfandom is that Asta’s voice actor, Gakuto Kajiwara, auditioned for another character alongside Asta.

Gakuto Kajiwara is the voice actor of Asta fromBlack Clover. He has worked in several other popular anime, includingKomi Can’t Communicate, Fire Force, Genshin Impact, etc. A couple of years ago, Gakuto Kajiwara, along withBlack Coverdirector Ayataka Tanemura, gave an interview to Crunchyroll. During that interview, Kajiwara was asked how he landed the role of Asta. His answer shocked theBlack Cloverfandom.

Gakuta Kajiwara said toCrunchyroll,
“I actually auditioned for both Asta and Yuno at first, but the role I got a second audition for was Asta. After the second audition, I got asked to come again, but when I went for my third audition, I practiced too much and lost my voice. I figured I had no chance of getting the role anymore, but that’s when I got the call saying I got the part. That’s how I ended up being Asta.”
It is astonishing to think that the voice actor for Asta originally auditioned for Yuno. Both of them have different voices and separate personalities. Moreover, theBlack Cloverfandom is divided between Yuno lovers and Asta lovers. So, this is new information to them. Asta and Yuno are perfect as they are. unfortunately, he did not get the role of Yuno, instead landed the role of Asta. Gakuta Kajiwara is doing a great job as the voice actor of Asta.

Gakuta Kajiwara is very happy with being the voice actor of Asta. Even though he thought he messed up the audition, he still ended up getting the part. Since then, he has become an integral part ofBlack Clover. Kajiwara mentioned that Asta has had a big impact on his life since he got to meet other great voice actors on the set, whom he considers senpai. The role has helped him grow his knowledge of voice acting.
The anime went on a hiatus after airing its 170thepisode on July 06, 2025. Earlier in 2023, the franchise released a movie namedBlack Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. The manga is also on a hiatus and will most likely make its return later this year. The hype surroundingBlack Cloverhas been building since both the anime and manga will have interesting arcs after they resume. Moreover, the fans will get to enjoy Gakuto Kajiwara’s voice once again.
