In the Wizarding World realm, Lord Voldemort went by many different names. People referred to him as “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” or “You-Know-Who” instead of his birth name, Tom Riddle, for a long time, both during his rule and after his fall. Because Voldemort was one of the most terrible villains in theHarry Potterseries, it’s natural to imagine that people avoided calling him by his real name out of fear.

And while fear was certainly a factor, Voldemort’s name had a magical quality to it that made people afraid to pronounce it. It turns out that uttering his name would almost certainly result in danger.
Harry Potter- What Made Voldemort Evil?
Voldemort’s long and terrible history is twisted and tragic, but his wickedness originated primarily from his desire to become immortal and all-powerful, as well as his loathing for being a half-blood (born from both Wizard and Muggle parents). He comes from a horrible family, which is the most evident cause. Voldemort’s personality later in life resembles those of his family members, whom he despises so much.
Voldemort may have been born into a nasty household, but he has always embraced evil, even as a child. Voldemort descended to realms of evil that his family would never contemplate. He is evil because he has made the decision to be so.

The Daunting Curse Called “The Taboo”
Voldemort had a formidable curse dubbed “the Taboo” cast on his name throughout the events of the book series. This spell made it so that when a specific phrase (in this example, Voldemort’s own name) was spoken, the person who cast the spell instantly knew where the other person was, even weakening any protective enchantments that may have obscured the speaker. The Death Eaters employed a spell like this to track down numerous people of interest who might be in opposition with Voldemort’s rule.
Voldemort employed the Taboo charm in the final book of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which resulted in various characters accidentally or purposely saying Voldemort’s name and being attacked as a result. In actuality, both Harry Potter and Hermione Granger mistakenly cast the spell, resulting in confrontations with multiple Death Eaters. So, while speaking about Voldemort was not advised, there was more to it than his nefarious reputation.
