Exciting news coming out of Gamescom 2023. And maybe to some, pretty unexpected, as we have confirmation from Opening Night Live that the Zack Snyder’s‘Rebel Moon’will be the first of his movies adapted into a video game. Snyder fans will no doubt be surprised by this given his previous works which many would have no doubt loved to have seen in game format.

Why was Rebel Moon at Gamescom 2023?
Following the trailer forRebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire, there was a lot of comments banded about but one word that many seem to use was ‘epic’. And with the first part premiering on Netflix on 22 December, fans are rightly excited about the new sci-fi thriller which could possibly giveDune: Part 2a run for its money if some of the comments from fans are anything to go by;

“THIS NEEDS TO BE RELEASED THEATRICALLY WORLDWIDE!#RebelMoon#RebelMoonInCinemasWorldWide.”
“#RebelMoonlooks amazing. It’s so fun that it’s basically a modern Star Wars knockoff and it seems high quality! Can’t wait to watch.”
Watching the trailer back, it’s hard to discern what we are is seeing and it is said that the trailer itself comprises of both parts of the film, so we don’t know which scenes will feature in each part. Given that it was filmed back to back, it is maybe no surprise with this and it this was certainly planned given the sheer scale of the project.
Certainly looking at the the footage we can identify influences pulled from many classics, such Akira Kurisawa’sSeven Samurai, the (aforementioned)Star Warssaga and some shots can certainly liken to the modern day remake ofDune.

As confirmed at Gamescom 2023,Rebel Moonwill be the first Zack Snyder movie to game adaptation. And when you look at the casting forRebel Moonyou can only marvel at the ensemble of talent that Snyder has managed to pull together for his sci-fi epic. Not only is there the legend himself, Anthony Hopkins, there is a stellar cast including Charlie Hunnam, Jena Malone, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher and Cary Elwes, to name but a few.
But many at Gamescom 2023 may have raised an eyebrow when Zack Snyder was invited on stage. No doubt the majority thinking that he was there to discuss the newRebel Moonmovie. And the man himself left the crowd at Cologne and those watching at home, smiling from ear to ear with the news thatRebel Moonwould be developed into a vide game.
Although there is very little known about the game itself, Snyder did confirm that it will be a co-op RPG being developed by Super Evil Mega Corp, taking place after events of the two movies. Snyder confirming that he is ‘super excited’ by the project.
