The makers ofLokideserve all the plaudits. After the horrendous run that the Marvel Cinematic Universe had been going through, season 2 ofLokibreathed fresh life into the franchise. That is more than what Kevin Feige and co. could have hoped for in these difficult times. Much of the credit goes to Eric Martin, executive producer and head writer of Season 2. Martin himself attributes this success to his clear philosophy of what he wanted to do with the God of Mischief – or rather god of Mischief. To turn him into a new ‘God’.

How did Loki rightfully earn the title of God

For the head writer, this was the season where Loki would enter a new chapter of his life. And he did it in quite some style. When asked what was going on in Martin’s mind, he replied,

“The big idea was taking Loki from a lowercase-g god, to a capital-G God, powering him up to that place where he gets his throne.” (Esquire)

Another reason why he has really leveled up is that this throne is not something he had always wanted. It was a sacrifice. He continued,

“This is a duty. He’s doing this so everyone else can have their lives. He’s giving up the thing that he wants most so that everyone else can have their free will… We wanted to power up his abilities, but also his wisdom and knowledge.”
