Some of the greatest talents that the world of cinema has ever seen are the stars of Hollywood that are at the top of the hierarchy. And even among them, the name of Tom Cruise has always been kept in high regard by both people from within the industry as well as the countless fans of the star from around the world.

And although the star has achieved everything that the world of cinema had to offer, he was never witnessed behind a rolling camera putting effort into directing something. But contrary to that belief, the star actually had directed in the past, although not for a substantial part of it, which also included Oscar-Winning actor Tom Hanks in the director’s chair as well.

Tom Cruise Only Directed One TV Show In His Entire Career

Many accomplished actors who have been in the Hollywood industry for a long time, have in one way or the other, tried to explore different aspects of filmmaking in their life, whether it be directing or writing, or both. But infamously,Tom Crusie, one of the biggest stars in the industry, have never really tried to make a film according to his vision, despite producing many of them. But he actually did direct one thing, although it wasn’t as major as a full-blown film.

Many people may not know about this fact and will be surprised to know this, but the blame can’t really be given to even the most hardcore Cruise fan due to the fact that this was not a very well-known show. During the run of the old detective crime/mystery showFallen Angels,Cruise was invited to be the guest director for one of the episodes of the series. The earlier guests who had given their hand in the direction also included legendary actor and directorTom Hanks.

The episode that theTop Gun: Maverickstar directed was namedThe Frightening Frammisand starred Peter Gallagher, Nancy Travis, and John C. Reilly. Being a noir, the premise was dark and gritty, but the star managed to put some of his signature flairs into the mix, creating a very well-executed piece of cinema.

While he may not have dipped his hands into direction again, Hanks on the other hand went on to become one of the best directors in the industry with his cult classicThat Thing You Doamong others.

What WasThe Frightening FrammisAbout?

While it may be the star’s one and only endeavor as a director in the film industry, he made sure that it would be the one that will be nothing short of exceptional. Being a noir, the short film starts off with a rather subtle nod to the underlying darkness of the premise. With a motive to double the $25,000 he borrowed from his conning wife, Mitch Allison goes on a journey to Las Vegas, but things take a morbid turn when he’s cornered by a troublemaking couple and stuck in a desert.
