Fans loved Zack Snyder’s dark and gritty take on Superman so much so that they are still lobbying for the director to continue hisJustice Leaguestory. Despite the fact that the DCU is in its next chapter, fans have not been able to get over Henry Cavil’s dark portrayal of Superman.

However, when Zack Snyder had to leaveJustice Leaguemidway, Joss Whedon took over the role of the director and delivered a much lighter version of the story than what Zack Snyder was working on. WhileJustice League(2017) was labeled a trainwreck by the fans for the same reason, it looks like Henry Cavill actually preferred the ‘Josstice League.’ In fact, he has always been keener towards a hopeful, more positive Superman.

Henry Cavilland his fans have a bond unlike any other. They even turned the Internet upside down when the actor was shown the exit door of DC Studios. Plus, fans cannot even fathom seeingLiam Hemsworthtake over hisThe Witcherrole. Cavill has built himself an army that is the definition of loyal. However, the character of Superman might be where their views differ from that of Cavill’s.

According to a Twitter user, @ViewerAnon, many people who have worked with Cavill onJustice Leagueand other projects have vouched for the fact that the actor favorsJoss Whedon’s Superman overZack Snyder’s.
Here we go: I’ve heard from quite a few people – a dozen or so who worked on JL or projects with him afterward – that Henry Cavill liked working with Joss Whedon and preferred his take on Superman.

This is not entirely shocking given the fact that Cavill is a sucker for source material. Everybody knows that theMan of Steelactor prefers sticking to the source material, no matter the project he is working on. Therefore, the idea that he might like Whedon’s more faithful-to-the-source version rather than Snyder’s dark Superman is pretty on brand for the actor.

Henry Cavill Talks about Joss Whedon’s Superman
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cavill talked aboutJustice League(2017) stating that it will be the first time fans get to see the true Superman.
“Geoff [Johns] and I have been delving into the history of the character to get to the core of who Superman is. This is the first time we see the true Superman. The Superman who is confident, and sure, and full of hope and joy.”
And while talking to LA Times, Cavill stated that he has always enjoyed the classic version Kryptonian superhero seen in comic books. He added that he and the director saw eye to eye when it came to aspects of Superman.
“I’ve always enjoyed the traditional, very classic view on Superman in the comic books. I think there’s an enormous complexity to that character. I know when I was working with Joss he and I saw eye-to-eye on some of the aspects of Superman. That paragon of hope. That ideal. That wonderful feeling of, ‘Oh, good, Superman’s here!’ I have also developed a very personal and protective relationship over this character, and it was just lovely to have the opportunity to smile and feel good.”
We are pretty sure Snyder stans are not going to be a fan of these comments. Which Superman did you prefer, Snyder’s or Whedon’s? Do you think the upcoming Superman played by David Corenswet will be similar to Whedon’s?
