Clint Eastwood‘s portrayal of the gritty and no-nonsense police detective led to the franchise becoming a critical hit, quickly becoming part of the popular culture. Catchy phrases and the franchise’s way of portraying law enforcement have made Clint Eastwood and the $22 million franchise gain a strong fan following. Liam Neeson and Jim Carrey joined the franchise in the final movie released in 1988,The Dead Pool.
With such a huge fan following and its significant impact on cinema, it was obvious that Eastwood would want to revive it. Unfortunately, the idea never took off due to various reasons and was ultimately shelved.
