One of the major challenges that modern CBMs have faced is to integrate the goofy elements of superhero costumes from the comics into the current landscape, making them more practical. And while in some cases, adaptations completely ditch their comic roots, on the other hand, some have embraced the ridiculousness of such colorful clothing, such as Peacemaker.
And in the recent MCU outing, which witnesses the trio of Monica Rambeau, Kamala Khan, and Carol Danvers teaming up, the movie pokes fun at one classic comic costume for a brief period.

The MarvelsTakes a Jab at Monica Rambeau’s Impractical Costume From Comics
The sequel toCaptain Marvelwitnesses the trio partnering up to take on yet another undercooked villain from the MCU, Dar-Benn after their powers become entangled. And whileThe Marvelshas failed to steer MCU’s ship in the right direction, it does have its charms, and the CBM doesn’t back away from taking a jab at Monica Rambeau’s comic-accurate costume. After the three visits the planet of Aladna to ask for Prince Yan’s help, Prince Yan, played by Park Seo-joon, helps Danvers, Kamala, and Monica by getting new costumes.
In Monica Rambeau’s case, we get a glimpse of her original suit as Photon from the comics, which sees massive wings of fabric attached to it that she proceeds to break following its impracticality. And whileThe Marvelshasn’t exactly scored the numbers the MCU was aiming for, it’s reasonable to say that Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau is here to stay.

Brie Larson Isn’t Going Anywhere From the MCU
Although things haven’t been exactly smooth sailing forBrie Larsonfollowing the flak surroundingThe Marvels, which had fans worried about her MCU future, it seems Danvers’ journey is far from over. Speaking toEntertainment Tonight, Larson reflected on the possible routes for the character’s journey moving forward, stating,
“I think there is still so much inside of Carol. I feel like getting to be on this team just cracked her open in a way that she hadn’t been and I really loved that for her.”She continued,“I just loved her letting the shoulders drop a little bit [in The Marvels], and not need to feel like all the responsibility was on her. So I think that there is just so much more to go. She is just a great character to continue to grow with. It’s like, as I am growing she is growing.”

WithThe Marvels’ending opening several routes for the MCU to choose from, it’ll interesting to see how the industry giant proceeds with these characters’ stories moving forward.
