Considering how big his name has become following his starring in theStar Warssaga, this news about Adam Driver almost playing one of the major and most formidable DC characters of all time might not come as a surprise to most fans. But what’s actually stunning is the role he might have played: that of Lex Luthor.

Although never confirmed, considering how he was the perfect age to play him, theMarriage Storystar was in talks of playing the intimidating character inZack Snyder‘s $873 million DC movie,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).However, due to scheduling conflicts with hisStar Warsprojects, he had to turn down the role.
Instead, it ended up going toJesse Eisenberg, whose portrayal of this villain didn’t sit all too well with critics. One reason behind this is that Luthor is described in the comics as a cool and collected businessman who hardly loses his temper, but Eisenberg was seen introducing an eccentric and burlesque character into the DCEU instead.

That being said, Driver’s take and portrayal of the bald baddie instead might have fared better with critics and saved the character in the $873 million movie from getting stamped upon.

Adam Driver Rejected A Role In Fantastic Four As Well

Recently,The Last Duelstar was once again in talks of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play the character of Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic in the upcomingFantastic Four.
However, the 39-year-old wasn’t all too keen on the script of the film. Sharing insider information from Marvel on an episode ofThe Hot Mic podcastabout how Driver couldn’t connect with the character, criticJeff Sneidersaid,
“They did send the script to Adam Driver some time ago, but he couldn’t connect with the character. The script did not speak to him. So this idea [of him being cast] died very quickly.”
Nonetheless, it seems that fans won’t be seeing him in either the MCU or the DCEU anytime soon, and can only hope for his return in theStar Warssaga.
