The award-winning writer forAssassin’s Creed, Pierre Boudreau who has worked at Ubisoft as Senior Writer onAssassin’s Creed Mirage,Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, andWatch Dogs: Legionupdated hisLinkedInbanner with an image of a female and logo ofAssassin’s Creed Codename Red.

The image in the banner showed a female donning anAssassin’s Creed-style hood, an outfit that’s been synonymous with the franchise since its inception. The female, reportedly the other protagonist can be seen wielding a katana with a Japanese pagoda in the background of the artwork.
The image also showed a standard logo ofAssassin’s Creed Codename Redwith Japanese calligraphy and is the only information, though unofficial, about the game since it was revealed at the Ubisoft Forward press conference last year.

Not long after the image was uploaded, Pierre Boudreau took down the image, clearly indicating that it was not supposed to be revealed at this time. However, this reveals that Ubisoft is planning for an official reveal soon and the fans’ wishes for a female protagonist could finally be fulfilled.
Assassin’s Creed fans have been asking for a female protagonist for a long time now and they believe that if it’s just memories in DNA, why can’t a woman fight for the Creed?
Fans have excitedly reacted to this leak and were also puzzled if this was a mistake from the senior writer or if it’s a marketing strategy to create buzz around the game before the big reveal which might be coming at The Game Awards.
An X user stated,“Did he jump the gun? This is a big teaser.”Another fan added:“Not gonna lie, she looks so cool! I can’t wait for Red next year. If it truly is the final RPG AC then I’m gonna enjoy the hell out of it!”
Boudreau removing the image made fans speculate that it could have been a genuine artwork for the game. Ubisoft hasn’t announced a release window forAssassin’s Creed Codename Redbut leaks have revealed that it could release sometime in 2024.
It will also be the first game in theAssassin’s Creed Infinity. Fans still will have to wait before they can know more about the new title in theAssassin’s Creedfranchise, and it might not be long before that happens.
