Despite the coronavirus outbreak throughout the world and lockdown everywhere, Tesla has started the production ofelectric carsstarted at Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai.
Tesla’s Gigafactory at Shanghai has started production again, with a rate of 3,000electric vehiclesper week which is higher than the usual.
Back in 2019, when the Giga Shanghai just started, initially, this rate was 2,000 electric cars per week. Soon after the start of production, the Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai got shut down due to the coronavirus.
As of now, it looks like Tesla is trying to compensate for the losses. With the current pace, Tesla will have around 150,000 EVs ready in a year at their plant. As per thereports, construction work at phase 2 is also going on, which will increase the production capacity to 250,000 units per year.
According to a ChineseYouTuber, the production of battery packs and electric motors will also start as soon as phase two comes in action.
However, production at all other factories ofTesla is still at a halt. Tesla’s Fremont and New York Gigafactory are forced to shut down due to the COVID-19.
Conditions in the US are quite severe. Even after the efforts from all the government organizations and the world’s mostrenowned companies, the situation is still not under control.
Nevertheless, Tesla will start manufacturing theventilators at Gigafactory, New York. We know this as Elon Musk confirmed the news via a tweet.
Other companies like GM, Ford, and FCA have also come out to help by manufacturing medical equipment. Recently, the president asked GM to produce more ventilators.
Earlier, FCA also announced to makeone million masksper month for all the first responders.
