The introduction and expansion of AI have led to the talks about generation of ideas with the tools. Reputed director, James Cameron, one of the greatest minds in the Hollywood industry, talked about AI’s ability to create a compelling story that can touch the audience’s hearts.

On being asked if the use of AI is a tool or a threat,the Black Mirrorcreator talked in detail about the use of AI in the entertainment industry. He shared withVox,

“I do very much worry about what the impact on employment generally is going to be.”

“I can imagine that as a writing tool. And the scary thing is I can imagine people using it to generate something that they then claim to own, which isn’t good enough to actually pass muster, that you’d have to then hire a human in, cheaply, to knock into shape.”

Brooker was asked if he would use AI tools for generating ideas for his show,

“I don’t think it’s at the point where it could write an even serviceable vomit draft. I don’t know that I trust its ability to generate an idea. Now riffing on an idea that you’ve got yourself? I can potentially see that.”

He also talked about writers’ fear of production houses replacing them with AI-generated content,

“I think it’s a real fear. I think the fear with writing is that the studio could use it to generate vomit drafts of things, and then hire human writers to depressingly rewrite it. And make it human. And that’s a very depressing state of affairs.”

Charlton Brooker is an English television presenter, writer, and producer. He is the creator and co-showrunner of the sci-fi drama anthology seriesBlack Mirror, which is quite popular worldwide.

James Cameron on the threatening impact of AI

AvatardirectorJames Cameronhad once expressed his concern about the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI). He took reference from his 1984 sci-fi film featuringArnold Schwarzenegger,The Terminator.

In an interview withCTV News, the director shared his belief that the weaponization of AI could produce disastrous consequences.

On being asked about the possibility of artificial intelligence, which may cause the extinction of humanity, as per some industry leaders, Mr. Cameron said,

“I absolutely share their concern. I warned you guys in 1984 and you didn’t listen.”

The 1984 film,The Terminatorrevolves around a Cybernet assassin created by an intelligent supercomputer called Skynet.

Talking about the weaponization of the new technology, he said,

“I think that we will get into the equivalent of a nuclear arms race with AI. And if we don’t build it, the other guys are for sure going to build it, and so then it’ll escalate.”
