The much-awaited first trailer of the live-action seriesAvatar: The Last Airbenderhas finally been released. The story of the series is focused on Aang, the young Avatar, as he aims to master the four elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. The character strives to bring balance to a world under threat from the Fire Nation. However, one might’ve missed several details in the trailer.
InThe Last Airbender, Gordon Cormier assumes the role of Aang, Fire Lord Ozai is played by Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is General Iroh, Ken Leung is Commander Zhao, Elizabeth Yu is Princess Azula, Dallas Liu plays Prince Zuko, Kiawentiio portrays Katara, and Ian Ousley is Sokka. Let’s have a look at some easter eggs in the trailer.

Netflix Series Could Draw Inspiration From Animated Series
The first shot of the trailer shows Sozin’s comet, which might be a flashback that explains how the 100-year war with the Fire Nation started. It can be seen passing over the Southern Air Temple, where Aang lived before he ended up frozen in ice. Then, the Fire Nation can be seen attacking, with Monk Gyatso’s voice in the background explaining the impact of time on the past and future.
This might emphasize Aang being stuck in ice for 100 years and returning to a world that has changed. These events align with the beginning of Book One, which means the series will begin similarly to the animated version.
No Water Or Earth Bending In Season One?
When Gyatso talks about the future, the trailer shows scenes similar to episode one. A boy can be seen on the ice with a guitar, and the ice can be heard cracking, symbolizing his emergence from the ice.
Interestingly, there’s no water bending shown in the first trailer, and there’s not much Earth bending either. It could be because they’re saving it for season two when Toph comes into the picture.

The Series Will Explore Zuko And Iroh’s Relationship
Zuko can be seen in his military attire at the Fire Nation Palace, which means he’s likely about to embark on a journey to find the Avatar. This happens after his father, Fire Lord Ozai, banishes him.
The scene also shows Uncle Iroh watching him filled with sorrow, depicting the moment they leave the Fire Nation. Iroh wasn’t banished but chose to join Zuko in his search for the Avatar. Zuko is like a surrogate son to Iroh, which explains the depth of their connection.
Traces Of The Blue Spirit Episode
In the Netflix series, viewers might get to see a messenger hawk, which is possibly linked to the Blue Spirit Episode.
This is the episode where Zuko, sporting the Blue Spirit mask, rescues Aang from Zhao’s Fire Nation prison. This would prevent Zhao from taking the Avatar to Fire Lord Ozai and claiming the honor of finding him before Zuko could.
Aang will find his purpose
Aang can be seen heading to Crescent Island Fire Temple in the trailer. This scene looks similar to the events of Winter Solstice Part Two, where Aang goes to the Fire Temple to speak to Avatar Roku.
Ruko’s message explains what he must do to prevent Lord Ozai from conquering the rest of the planet. This will set the whole series’ tone, leading to an end similar to the one shown in Book Three.
